The themes of the six articles included here, are in direct connection with the Western Esoteric Tradition. Their precise, objective presentation are an updating and application of this tradition to the psychic and spiritual requirements of the 20th century.
This is a First English Edition of the lectures and one essay that are in this volume. The translators were, Michael and Elisabeth Tapp, and Adam Bittleston. The first three lectures were edited by Paul M. Allen. These lectures and one essay are from various GA numbers (some of which are unknown or not assigned), and were given at various cities in Europe.

This lecture is the first of fifteen lectures in the series entitled, The Polarity of Continuity and Change in Human Life. The Cosmic Prehistory of Humanity, published in German as, Die Polaritaet von Dauer und Entwicklung Im Menschenleben. Die kosmische Vorgeschichte der Menschheit. Another name for this lecture is, The Bridge between the Ideal and the Real Part 1. (vol. 184 in the Bibliographic Survey).

Together with Study of Man and Discussions with Teachers these discussions form the basic training material given by Steiner to the teachers of the first Waldorf school. Here are 14 lectures, given at Stuttgart at the founding of the first Waldorf School in August and September of 1919. This is a First Edition, English translation of this important pedagogical Course.
These lectures have also been published in English with the title, Practical Advice to Teachers, and are published in German with the title, Erziehungskunst. Methodisch-didaktisches (vol. 294 in the Bibliographic Survey).

It is lecture 8 of 8 in the series entitled, Art in the Light of Mystery Wisdom, published in German as, Kunst im Lichte der Mysterienweisheit. It is also known as, Working with Sculptural Architecture — 2.
