Reading the Pictures of the Apocalypse (Lectures Section)

We are daily overwhelmed by pictures of the world situation which reflect mighty spiritual events in our time. Our task is to learn to rightly read these pictures and make judgments about them. This book offers rich opportunities for such practice, or inner schooling, so that we can meet the world situation in full wakefulness. These lectures, consisting of listener’s notes, present Steiner’s account of the meaning of the most esoteric book in the Bible. Themes include: the nature of the third millennium; Sorat and the significance of the number 666; the War of All against All; the Second Coming of Christ; and the true nature of the I and the possible futures open to it – futures that depend upon our actions now. The illustration on the cover is drawn from these lectures. It represents the occult sign for the Intelligence of the Sun, the Christ, the adversary of Sorat, the Demon of the Sun. Translated by James H. Hindes. Preface by Virginia Sease.

Course for Young Doctors (Lectures Section)

Meditative contemplations and instructions for deepening the art of healing were given in this course for medical students and young physicians. The course consists of eight lectures given at Christmas, 1923, and five lectures given at Easter, 1924. For Rudolf Steiner, it was to be a course on the humanizing of medicine. As such it is completely different in content and spirit from all other lectures on medicine. Nowhere else does Rudolf Steiner give the kind and amount of meditative material to deepen a professional activity as he does in this course. Also included are ‘The Bridge Lectures,’ three lectures given Dec. 17-19, 1920, which were recommended By Rudolf Steiner as preparation for this course.

Inner Aspect of the Social Question (Lectures Section)

Rudolf Steiner suggested new ways to organize society and engage with social questions. This book presents his esoteric perspective on such concerns. Steiner asserts that we must begin by giving real value to the human element in the world, finding a deeper understanding of our relationship to nature and to the cosmos. Accordingly, it is ineffective to organize society in an arbitrary way; society ought to reflect the human relationship to the spiritual world. Steiner goes on to discuss the threefold archetype of social life — the political state, the economy, and the spiritual and cultural aspects — and how these three areas can interact in a healthy way, leading to an evolving society that is vibrant.

The Bridge Between Universal Spirituality and the Physical Constitution of Man (Lectures Section)

A study of the nature of the human being, this small book shows that the moral world-order, though denied by the natural sciences, is the source for all world-creative power. Three lectures given by Rudolf Steiner at Dornach in December of 1920, they are from the lecture series entitled, The Bridge between Cosmic Spirituality and the Physical Constitution of Humans, published in German as, Die Bruecke Zwischen der Weltgeistigkeit und dem Physichen des Menschen. Die Suche Nach der Neuen Isis, der Goettlichen Sophia. Der Mensch in seinem Zusammenhang mit dem Kosmos. Printed in Manuscript for the members of the School of Spiritual Science, Goetheanum, Dornach. No person is held qualified to form a judgment on the contents of these works who has not acquired — through the School itself or in an equivalent manner recognized by the School — the requisite preliminary knowledge. Other opinions will be in so far disregarded as the authors of the works in question are not willing to take them as a basis for discussion.
